Find Out a Little More About Mrs. Malkowski

You probably think homework is a form of punishment, but its actual purpose is to reinforce material you've learned in class.

When an assignment is not completed a Parent/Teacher Communication is given which must be signed and returned with the finished homework the next day.
Five points are deducted for each day an assignment
is overdue. (5 points 1st and 2nd Qtr. / 10 points 3rd and 4th Qtr) The third Parent/Teacher Communication results in detention. You can easily stay out of
detention by just doing the work!
(Refer to the quote at the right)

Absences
If you are absent for any reason it is YOUR responsibility to make-up all work that was missed.
PICK A RESPONSIBLE CLASSMATE AHEAD OF TIME TO COLLECT YOUR WORK FOR YOU IN CASE YOU ARE ABSENT.  If your best friend has a hard enough time keeping track of his/her own work please don't ask them to collect your work.  If you fail to make-up the assignment in a reasonable amount of time your grade will be recorded as a zero.  I'm not wishy-washy about this.  You're in sixth grade - Be responsible.

Science Chapter Tests
Every science chapter test must be signed by a parent or guardian and returned within two class days.
A P/T Communication is given to anyone not returning a signed test regardless of the grade received.

I keep track of P/T Communications in a logbook and each semester everyone starts over with a clean slate!

Extra Credit
Science: I allow one extra credit assignment per quarter if you feel you need to bring your average up. If you get a 5 week report you should consider doing extra credit. Please see me for the assignment.
DO NOT come to me a week before the marking period ends for extra credit. Since I give out averages on a continual basis you should be well aware what your grade is. There should never be question of what your overall average is.

“He that is good at making excuses is seldom good at anything else.”
