Outlining

1. Title the outline with assignment / chapter title

2. Mark Major sections as I, II, III, IV, V etc.

3. Mark subheadings sections as A, B, C, D, E etc.

4. List details under sub-headings as 1, 2, 3, 4. etc.

5. For more detail use a, b, c, d etc.

a. Bold face words and definitions

b. Formulas and descriptions

c. important points about the above

When writing an outline:

  • DO NOT try to write down every word.
  • Write down the main ideas, content, and information.
  • Develop your own way of abbreviating words.
  • Read or listen carefully - elaborate on important material
    and BRIEFLY summarize it in writing.
